Plot twist: you own quantum tech

chipslasersLEDs MRIGPS clocks all built on quantum physics: revolution #1, last century

Quantum physics isn't only about futuristic computers. The FIRST quantum revolution happened last century, and it's in your pocket.

Understanding atoms and electrons gave us the transistor (the building block of every chip), the laser, and the LED. No quantum physics, no smartphones.

Your phone exists because we understood quantum physics.

Lasers everywhere

A laser works by nudging atoms to release their light-steps in perfect sync: pure quantum staircase behavior.

They're in barcode scanners, eye surgery, and fiber-optic internet: your cat videos cross the ocean as pulses of laser light in glass threads.

Hospitals and satellites

MRI scanners image your insides by talking to the quantum 'spin' of atoms in your body, no radiation needed.

GPS works because satellites carry atomic clocks, which count the ultra-steady quantum ticks of atoms. Without quantum-grade timing, map positions would drift by kilometers.

Dato curioso: Good atomic clocks would be off by less than a second after millions of years.

Revolution #2

That was quantum 1.0: using quantum rules in bulk, billions of atoms at a time.

The new wave, quantum 2.0, controls INDIVIDUAL atoms, electrons and photons: quantum computers, eavesdropper-proof communication links, and sensors that detect the faintest signals. That's where today's money and headlines are.

Quantum 1.0 built the modern world. Quantum 2.0 is being built right now.

Recap

Quantum physics already gave us chips, lasers, LEDs, MRI and GPS.

Quantum 2.0 = controlling single quantum things: computing, communication, sensing.

Next up: who's building it, and what they're racing for. Quiz first!

Mini quiz: Quantum You Already Own

5 preguntas: generadas de nuevo desde el banco en cada intento. Nota mínima 60%. Intentos ilimitados.
