Do I need to know math or physics to use this site?
No. Every course uses everyday pictures. Spinning coins, gloves, staircases — and there is not a single equation on the site. If you can flip a coin, you're qualified.
What order should I take the courses in?
Start with 'Quantum, But Friendly': it builds the four ideas everything else uses. Then 'Inside a Quantum Computer' and 'Quantum in the Real World' in either order.
How do the quizzes work?
Every section ends with a short 5-question quiz, and every course ends with a 10-question final test. Pass mark is 60%. Explanations appear after every answer, so even wrong guesses teach you something.
Can I retake a quiz or final test?
As many times as you like: no limits, no cooldowns. Each attempt draws a different mix of questions from a larger question bank, so a retake is a real check, not a memory test of the answer key.
What is the understanding meter?
The gauge on your progress page. It fills as you finish slides, pass section quizzes and ace final tests, and it maps to a level: from Quantum Curious all the way to Entangled Expert. Quiz scores count your best attempt.
Will I lose my progress?
Your progress lives in your browser while you learn. If you clear it (or use the Log out & reset button) it's gone: UNLESS you've saved it with your email. Enter your email once and your progress is stored on our server; type the same email on any device to pick up where you left off.
Is the news on this site real?
Yes: every item in Quantum News is a real, current article pulled from reputable outlets and science sources. Each one names its source and links to the original. We never write fake or filler news.
Is any of this investment advice?
Never. The 'Quantum in the Real World' course and the Investing news tag explain how money flows through the quantum industry: as education and research only. We're a classroom, not a broker, and we never recommend buying or selling anything.
Can I use this site for school?
Absolutely: it's designed as a gentle first course for students, parents and the generally curious. The Additional Resources page links to university-level material (MIT, Caltech, IBM and more) when you're ready to go deeper.
Is a quantum computer going to replace my laptop?
No: and any headline saying so has skipped our second course. Quantum computers are specialists: potentially incredible for simulating molecules and cracking specific math problems, worse than your laptop at everything else.
Who writes the content?
Lessons are written and edited in-house, fact-checked against the primary sources listed on our Data Sources page, and refreshed as the field moves. AI assists with research and drafting; humans decide what ships. Spot an error? Tell us via the Contact page and we'll fix it.
