What this site is. The Quantum Register is an educational site: slide-based quantum courses with quizzes, a plain-English glossary, curated outside resources, and aggregated news, presented for education and research, never advice.

How lessons are written. Each lesson is drafted against established physics sources (university explainers, standards-agency material, and the primary literature's accepted results), then deliberately simplified using tested analogies. The rule for every simplification: it must preserve the real idea. Where honest uncertainty exists in the field (such as when quantum computers become broadly useful), lessons state the uncertainty rather than picking a side. Claims with dates (Nobel Prizes, published standards, named algorithms) are checked against the awarding or publishing institution.

How quizzes work. Every section quiz serves 5 questions drawn from a bank of 10; every final test serves 10 drawn across all of a course's banks plus a final-only pool. Draws are balanced by topic so each attempt still covers the section's ideas, and previously served questions are avoided where possible, so retakes get a genuinely different mix. Retakes are unlimited by design; scores always count your best attempt. Grading happens server-side — answers never appear in the page source.

The understanding meter. Your gauge combines finished slides (30% of each section), best quiz scores (70% of each section), and final-test best scores (double weight), averaged across courses. It is a motivation device, not a certification.

News. Headlines are aggregated from established science and industry feeds (see Data Sources); every item names its publisher, shows the publisher's own summary, and links to the original. Nothing is rewritten, invented, or filled in. When feeds go quiet, the news page shows an honest empty state.

Outside resources. The Additional Resources page links only to primary, authoritative destinations: universities, institutions, official programs, and established channels. Links are verified automatically at deploy time and periodically re-checked.

AI assistance. Portions of the site's content are produced with AI-assisted research and editing under human review; the Ask Quantum feature generates answers only from this site's own lesson content, under rules that forbid advice and invented claims. See the Editorial Policy.

Refresh cadence. News refreshes every two hours. Course content ships with deploys and is corrected as errors are found, see Contact.
